Abstract

This paper explores the multifaceted significance of literary translation in the evolution and enrichment of national literatures.  It argues that literary translation acts as a bridge between cultures, fostering a vibrant exchange of artistic expression and innovation.  By introducing new genres, styles, and techniques, translation serves as a catalyst for the development of national literatures, particularly during their formative stages.  The analysis delves into the challenges and complexities inherent in the translation process, highlighting the crucial role of skilled translators in preserving the essence of the original work while ensuring its accessibility to a new audience.  Furthermore, the paper emphasizes the creative dimension of literary translation, where translators act as cultural interpreters, shaping the target language and enriching its literary potential.  Ultimately, the paper positions literary translation as a powerful tool for promoting intercultural understanding, fostering a sense of global citizenship, and enriching the tapestry of human experience.
